Your Body Holds Your Story
Hi friends, welcome to 2022. I’m Mike Williams, Certified Rolfer & Hakomi Practitioner.
My work is to help you connect the dots between what’s showing up in your body and what’s showing up in your life. This reflects the “Map of You” – that internal landscape of mind & body that wires you to operate in the ways you do without even having to try.
This “Map of You” wires you to jam your shoulders way up into your ears every time you’re stressed. Or to tighten your back, push your chest up, and never really exhale so you feel and look bigger as you walk down the street. Or it shows up in the way your whole body shrinks and tightens inward around your solar plexus when you think about that challenging conversation you need to have with a colleague or loved one.
It shows up in 8 billion unique ways, all expressing the different challenges of our lives right through our bodies. And it does this all on autopilot.
Usually, the results of that are, “I keep having (fill in the blank with your recurring symptom or problem), and I don’t know why.” It feels like you’re stuck in the same loop over and over.
So, we’re not just fixing something that feels broken. We’re creating an understanding of how the story of your life shows up in your body, again and again.
And then we’re helping you learn to do something radically different.
Along the way, we develop tools for you to find your way out of the swampy parts of your Map and back to the beach, mountains, sunny pastures, or wherever it is you’d rather be. Once you have that map and those tools, you’re empowered to do this on your own.
You may be trying Rolfing with the goal of relief from years of chronic pain. Perhaps you’re interested in Hakomi and mindfulness-based coaching, and your goal is to uncover what keeps landing you in the same place over & over in relationships, career, or life in general.
Same type of journey, different trailhead.
The route to success is the same: learn to understand this map and navigate it with more awareness and skill.
I’m your guide through this territory. I have 13 years’ experience in bodywork and somatic psychology, plus decades of movement practice and personal development work to call on. I know how to get us oriented in tricky terrain, and how to map out a clear way to our destination. I respect that each body has its own unique story, informed by socioeconomics, race, orientation, shape, trauma, and life experiences.
Your body holds your story. Together we uncover that story to help you heal and thrive.
