You're Working Too Hard
When I see new clients, 80-90% of them share one common struggle that’s evident to me within minutes of meeting them.
They’re working too hard.
This assessment isn’t made from a place of judgment; I can see it physically manifesting in their bodies. Their shoulders are holding too much tension. Their bodies are rigid when they can be relaxed. When they move across the room, they exert a tremendous amount of effort without knowing it.
To put it simply, they are unconsciously creating pain and physical breakdown and it shows.
When we push our bodies too far, pain starts to emerge. Usually it isn’t an injury that causes the symptoms that bring people into my Rolfing practice, but more typically the accumulated wear from a complex set of bad habits. Back and hip pain, frequent headaches, and lack of ease in posture & movement are just a few of the effects of overextending our minds and bodies over the years and not being aware of how we’re doing it.
There is a much better way to treat our bodies, release tension, and correct years of working too hard. The great news is that simple, awareness-based exercises you can do during the small pockets of your busy day or after a hard day’s work as a reset can yield a tremendous shift forward in your experience of your body.
I believe the tools to reset our body should be available to everyone. That’s why I’ve put together the “You’re Working Too Hard” Mindful Movement Series – a series of videos to walk you through small, short attention span-friendly practices I’ve developed over the last decade to bring more awareness to what you’re doing with your body, break through unhealthy habits, and create greater physical ease, comfort, and flow in your day-to-day living. Each video is information-rich and walks you through how to incorporate one simple exercise into your life.
In the first, Beginner Series, I’ve created a video covering each of the following practices:
Mindful Awareness
Active Rest
Inside-Out Breathing
Eye Work
Pre-Movement
When you watch these videos and make each of the practices your new daily habits, you will immediately begin to solve many of your own pain problems. As simple as they are, these are the practices that have helped my clients resolve 80-90% of the chronic pain challenges they’ve walked through my door with. They’ll help you re-code your nervous system, build awareness around unproductive tendencies, and build an optimal baseline of ease in your body for years to come.
And for those of you that have never worked with me before, or if it’s been awhile, these videos will be like having access to a virtual version of working with me one-on-one! They’re your Somatic Re-Engineering boot camp! Click below to access the videos now:
I’ll look forward to having you join me for the “You’re Working Too Hard” Mindful Movement Series, and stay tuned for the Intermediate Series to be released soon!
